The process of selling, delivering, training, billing, and collecting reimbursements for the Aqua Relief System, follow a similar process as with most DME products.  Below, we take you through each of the steps along with estimates for billing and reimbursements.

Who Qualifies?

This modality provides localized heat therapy (moist or dry) that is safe and effective. Adjustable temperature from 40 F to 105 F (105F fixed for sensitive skin). Controlled heat (water) within safe limits that relaxes muscles, increases blood flow and reduces edema as well as pain. Patented bladders are used for the foot, wrist, elbow, shoulder, cervix, chest, and any other area of the body.

In order for a patient to qualify under Medicare guidelines for the Aqua Relief System, an Rx is required from the Doctor indicating that there is a Medical Necessity for the patient to receive warm therapy to improve circulation or relieve pain.  Some of the diagnosis's include:

If a patient is qualified, they may receive the following items:

• 1 Aqua Relief System - Includes Pump & 1 Bladder (1 unit every 5 years)
   
• 1 Bladder (As needed if unusable - at least once per year)
   

Doctors - Prescription (Rx)

Upon patient qualification and before placing an order, it is necessary to receive the approval from the patient's primary Doctor.  The Prescription Rx form is sent or faxed to the Dr. for their signature. 

Patient's authorization to bill Medicare

The standard patient authorization form needs to be signed by the patient and returned prior to billing Medicare. 

Billing Medicare & Supplemental Insurance

Upon completion and certification that the Aqua Relief System has been delivered and accepted by the patient, the Medicare Provider company then bills Medicare, Supplemental Insurance, and possibly the patient for the co-pay amount.

The Medicare allowable for the Aqua Relief System varies by state between $422 - $496.  The Medicare allowable for the Bladders vary by state from $84 - $126.  Below is a schedule that shows the approximate Medicare billing amounts for the Initial sale of the Aqua Relief System and the Recurring sales of the Bladders:

 

Certification
